    A. Yes. However, you can cover as many adult family members as you like with their own plans as long as it is reasonable to assume you are likely to be responsible for their final expenses.
  • Q. Will the Funeral Protection Promis cover the cost of my funeral?
    A. The cost of a funeral will differ for individuals. The cover you select may not meet all your actual funeral costs.
  • Q. Does an Over 50s Life Insurance Promis only cover one person?

  • Q. How much cover can I apply for?
    A. Cover is available from £1,000 up to £20,000 per person. You can always change your level of cover at a later date, upwards or downwards, as long as you’re aged between 30 and 79.

Regardless of how many Promis Life guaranteed acceptance products you take out, the total cover amount for each life insured cannot exceed £20,000 (not including Inflation Fighter increases).

  • Q. How much will an Over 50s Life Insurance Promis cost per month?

  • Q. Can the Over 50s Life Insurance Promis be tailored to suit me?
    A. The Over 50’s Life Insurance Promis is designed to be straightforward but with a few choices. We are unable to provide you with advice, we will however explain the options available to you to enable you to make an informed decision. Call 0800 907 0798 and we will talk you through your options.
  • Q. What are the different premium options?
    A. Our two different premium options are as follows:

Level Premium – This may be a suitable option if you want to lock in your rate from the start. Premiums are more expensive at the start (compared with Increasing Premiums) but are guaranteed not to go up throughout the life of the Plan (unless you choose Inflation Fighter).

Increasing Premium – This may be a suitable option if you want the lowest possible starting premium. Premiums are cheaper at the start (compared to Level Premiums) but go up by 3% every year (without Inflation Fighter). You can switch to a Level Premium at a later date if you wish but this could impact your premium or amount of cover.

  • Q. What is Inflation Fighter?
    A. Over time, the cost of things, including funerals, rise due to inflation. If your amount of cover remains fixed, it may not meet the cost of a funeral in the future or have enough left over as a gift to loved ones. So we offer an optional “Inflation Fighter” feature to help protect your cover amount against the rising cost of funerals.

If selected, Inflation Fighter increases your amount of cover by a fixed 3% each year until you reach age 90.

If you have chosen Level Premiums and Inflation Fighter, your premium will increase by 4.5% each year because you are getting more cover each year. If you have chosen Increasing Premiums and Inflation Fighter, your premium will increase by 7.5% each year.

If you would like a premium that remains level and never goes up, you should choose Level Premium without Inflation Fighter.

  • Q. Will Inflation Fighter ensure all my funeral costs are covered?
    A. No, Inflation Fighter will help protect your cover amount against the effects of inflation but it does not guarantee that your funeral costs will be covered.
  • Q. Can I change the level of cover after I buy my Plan?
    A. You can reduce your level of cover at any time and you can increase your cover any time before your 80th birthday, between £1,000 and £20,000. You may need to review and update your overall cover amount periodically to ensure it remains adequate for your needs. Any increase in cover will have a new Accidental Death Period applied to the additional incremental amount.

Regardless of how many Promis Life guaranteed acceptance products you take out, the total cover amount for each life insured cannot exceed £20,000 (not including Inflation Fighter increases).

  • Q. How will my family make a claim?
    A. To make a claim, your loved one can call us on 0800 907 0796 about a Funeral Protection Promis claim, or 0800 907 0798 about an Over 50s Life Insurance Promis claim and one of our claims specialists will gently, but professionally talk through everything that’s needed. This is the time for us to really help, so that is exactly what we will do.

We’ll need the completed claim form, an original death certificate, a certified copy of an identification document of the person making the claim (such as passport or driver’s licence) plus bank account details for the person making the claim. And if they have it, the original plan schedule is really useful.

  • Q. How long will the payout take?
    A. We guarantee that once all correctly completed documentation is back with us and we agree the claim is valid, the payment will be made within 48 hours (2 business days). If for any reason this doesn't happen, we’ll add an extra £100 to the payout.
  • Q. Who do I need to inform about my Plan?
    A. It’s best to leave your Plan details with a trusted family member or close friend. If you have a family member that you would like to own the Plan with you, you can elect that at purchase, and they will receive a copy of the plan Terms & Conditions to help them when they need to claim. If you add a family member on your plan (as a co-owner) they are owners of the plan, you will need their consent in order to remove them if you change your mind in the future.
  • Q. What is covered and not covered?
    A. Because we offer guaranteed acceptance without the need for any medical tests or health questions, there is an initial period of 12 or 24 months (it’s your choice) where you are only covered for death caused by an accident. We call this the Accidental Death Period.

If a claim is made for a non-accidental death during the Accidental Death Period, we’ll pay a full refund of all premiums. However, after the Accidental Death Period you’re covered for any cause of death, including accident, illness or natural causes.

  • Q. What is Accidental Death?
    A. Accidental Death means a death directly caused from suffering accidental bodily injury from an external, violent and visible event which occurs whilst covered by the Plan. The death must not be attributable to a medical condition of the Life Insured and must have occurred within 90 days of the accident.
  • Q. What if my circumstances change?
    A. If any of your details change, inform us as soon as possible and we’ll update your Plan with the correct details.
  • Q. When does my cover end?
    A. Cover ends upon the death of the person insured under the Plan, or if you decide to cancel the Plan, or if the Insurer cancels the Plan due to non-payment of premiums.
  • Q. How long will I need to make payments for?
    A. Premiums must be paid when due and continue up to age 90, after which there is no more to pay. Depending on how long you live, the total premiums you pay over time may be more than your cover amount.
  • Q. Who does the claim get paid to?
    A. Once a claim is approved by Us, We will pay the Claim Amount as a cash sum into the UK bank account to the second Plan Owner named on the Plan Schedule. If there is no second Plan Owner, we will pay the proceeds to the person legally entitled to receive it. This could be a husband, wife or civil partner / son or daughter / parents / brother or sister.
  • Q. Does the Promis Life Funeral Protection Promis have a cash value at any time?
    A. No. This is an insurance policy and has no cash value at any time. If you cancel the plan after the first 30 days you will not get any premiums back and you will no longer be covered by the plan.
  • Q. Does the Promis Life Over 50 Life Insurance Promis have a cash value at any time?
    A. No. This is an insurance policy and has no cash value at any time. If you cancel the plan after the first 30 days you will not get any premiums back and you will no longer be covered by the plan. The Over 50’s Life Insurance Promis is not a savings plan.
  • Q. Could I pay more in premiums than my amount of cover?
    A. Yes, depending on how long you live you could end up paying more in premiums than the amount of cover on the policy.
  • Q. How do I make a complaint?
    A. We really hope the need never arises, but if we’ve not lived up to our Promis of great service, please contact us on 0800 907 0796 about your Funeral Protection Promis, or 0800 089 0920 about your Over 50s Life Insurance Promis, alternatively write to us at Freepost CUSTOMER CARE PROMIS LIFE.
